Rivers don’t Go Reverse
The tales of humans
are like rivers.
They never go reverse.
But they never know
where one tale touches
another’
before
both tales
touch the ocean
and merge.
Human tales are about
cooking saucy textual food,
ingredients in place.
Like a sedimentary rock
we gather moss
by layers
and swim around.
And rivers
still do not go
reverse.
नदियां उल्टी नहीं बहती
मनुष्यों की कहानियां
नदियों की तरह होती हैं
वे कभी भी उल्टी नहीं बहती
जहां एक कहानी स्पर्श करती है
दूसरी को,
इससे पहले कि
दोनों कहानियां
महासागर को छुए
और उसमें विलीन हो जाए।
मानव कथाएं हैं
जायकेदार प्रसंगों का स्वादिष्ट भोजन,
सारे मसालों का उत्तम मिश्रण,
मानो तलछट्टी चट्टानों का अवसादीकरण
हम परत-दर-परत
हटाकर काई
तैरने लगते हैं इर्द-गिर्द
तब भी नदियां
उल्टी नहीं बहती।
